Head of Finance
Part-Time | Circa 3 Days Per Week (Hours Negotiable)
Hybrid Working – London Based
The Opportunity
An established and successful investment management firm is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join the business on a part-time basis (circa 3 days per week).
With a team of approximately 30 professionals, the firm operates a partner-led model, combining institutional-level investment standards with a highly client-focused culture. The business provides bespoke investment and wealth management solutions and continues to evolve, including the expansion of its Wealth Planning offering and recent strategic acquisition activity.
This is a senior, hands-on role reporting directly to the Managing Partner. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the finance function, ensuring strong financial governance, regulatory compliance and strategic financial oversight to support continued growth.
Key Purpose of the Role
To lead and manage the firm’s financial reporting, internal accounts and regulatory obligations, while supporting strategic decision-making at Partnership level.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Full ownership of management accounts, financial reporting and cashflow forecasting
- Provide clear, timely and accurate financial analysis
- Support the Managing Partner in shaping financial strategy
- Lead the annual budgeting process and advise Partners on financial planning
- Present management accounts and profitability forecasts at quarterly Partner meetings
- Identify and implement financial and operational process improvements
Partnership & Profit Management
- Manage Equity Partner profit share calculations and associated tax payments
- Present finance updates to staff and partners at quarterly meetings
Regulatory & Compliance
- Oversee preparation of year-end accounts for all group entities
- Manage the external audit process
- Act as primary contact for HMRC (including PAYE, P60, P11D)
- Oversee VAT and Corporation Tax compliance
- Complete and submit all required FCA regulatory financial reporting
- Maintain robust internal controls to minimise regulatory and operational risk
Payroll & Benefits
- Oversee payroll, pensions and staff benefits in collaboration with HR
- Authorise staff and partner expenses
- Supervise the Finance Assistant (expenses and invoice processing)
Systems & Operational Oversight
- Lead administrator for finance systems (e.g. Sage, Xero)
- Manage system users, upgrades and enhancements
- Improve and develop accounting systems to maximise efficiency
- Oversee lease arrangements and property-related financial matters
- Manage key service contracts (utilities, IT, suppliers, facilities)
Additional Responsibilities
- Support facilities and health & safety financial oversight
- Contribute to firm-wide culture and collaboration
- Build and manage external B2B relationships
- Support strategic initiatives including potential office moves, mergers or acquisitions
- Travel to regional offices as required
Skills & Experience
Essential Experience
- Fully qualified Accountant (Chartered or Certified)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role within financial services
- Direct experience with FCA regulatory reporting
- Experience managing accounts in a fast-paced, professional environment
