Data Operations Analyst
Job Description
An established and growing investment and wealth management firm is seeking a Data Analyst to join its Operations Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting core investment data processes within a collaborative, high-performing environment.
The successful candidate will take ownership of critical data workflows that underpin portfolio management, reporting, and consultancy services. This role offers exposure across operational, investment and reporting systems, with strong emphasis on data quality, automation and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Core Data Processing & Ownership
- Own and deliver core data processes supporting Model Portfolio, Bespoke Portfolio and consultancy services
- Extract, transform and upload reporting data across multiple systems
- Daily transaction feeds
- Holdings data
- Reconciliation and performance files
Automation & Technical Development
- Develop and maintain Excel automation and SQL extraction processes
- VBA/macros for recurring workflows
- Process efficiency improvements
- Data validation and control checks
Data Quality & Control
- Clean, validate and standardise datasets in line with internal procedures
- Client set-ups and client details
- Transaction classifications
- Relationship and account structures
- Naming conventions and reference data
- Write and maintain data rules within the firm’s Data Control Infrastructure (DCI) tool
- Investigate and resolve data quality exceptions
Operational & Regulatory Support
- Document and map end-to-end system dependencies across operational, investment and reporting platforms
- Deliver quarterly and tax year-end data cleansing to support regulatory and client reporting
- Support daily operational processes within a small team
- Ensure all duties are completed in line with internal controls to minimise operational and data risk
Additional Duties
- Provide ad-hoc support to the Senior Operations Manager and wider Operations Team
- Assist with general office duties when required (e.g. greeting clients, answering calls, basic IT support)
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture
- Attend first aid and fire marshal training
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation and uploads
- Advanced Excel skills including VBA/macros and automation
- Proven experience cleaning, validating and standardising datasets
- Strong attention to detail with a control-focused mindset
- Ability to understand complex system workflows and dependencies
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in investment management, wealth management, fintech or financial services (including placement year experience)
- Hands-on experience in operational data processing, automation and data quality management desirable
